Tubular membranes
The range of Berghof membrane elements offered by Sepra has a very high diversity, in terms of the choice of polymer, porosity and construction of the element.
The external filtration systems are positioned outside the bioreactor and utilize variable crossflow velocity to keep the membranes working at optimal conditions. If necessary, this process is supported with permeate backwash (temporarily reversed permeate flow) or chemical backwash protocols.
Tubular membrane filtration is frequently applied for wastewater treatment in the external configuration because of the greater ease in cleaning, zero odor emissions and overall superior robustness.
Unlike dead-end filtration (outside-in fitration), as seen with conventional submerged membrane technology, cross-flow filtration allows operators to sustain higher flux rates with less frequent cleanings and reduced maintenance.
Tubular UF membranes are also available in back-washable configurations that require less chemical usage and system downtime, thus extending the life of the membrane.
The following tables illustrate the various possible combinations and allow users to download the data sheets of the individual membranes and modules.
