Spiral wound Membrane elements for oily effluents
Sepra has acquired extensive experience in the field of emulsion and oily-effluent treatment. Particularly, Sepra now offers the M-Series GE membrane, built with chemically-modified polyacrylonitrile.
"FOULING FREE" technology
To prevent fouling of the membrane by free oil the M series underwent surface modification to obtain an extreme level of hydrophilicity, unlike traditional polymer membranes that are inherently hydrophobic.
The M-SERIES membrane is oleophobic:
The increase in hydrophilicity is measured by detecting the water/membrane/air angle of contact for various types of membrane; a lower contact angle is indicative of a more hydrophilic membrane and hence a lower tendency to fouling by free oil and high-concentration emulsions.
M-SERIES membrane: Typical applications
- Separation of oil from oily emulsions and degreasing baths
- Removal of organic contaminants
- NF and RO pre-treatment
